Chic and Cheap: The Vanderbilt YMCA Hotel Review

The Vanderbilt YMCA is a budget-friendly accommodation option in the heart of New York City. If you’re looking for a place to stay that won’t break the bank, this might just be the spot for you. But before you book, let me tell you a little bit more about my recent experience at The Vanderbilt YMCA.

Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The front desk employees were cheerful and helpful, making the process stress-free. And when it came to storing our luggage, we utilized the bag drop service on both occasions and were thrilled with how easy and convenient it was.

The moment we stepped into our room, the first thing that caught our attention was the cleanliness. The YMCA was spotless, and we felt safe and secure in our surroundings. However, as much as we loved the cleanliness, there were a few things that made our stay less enjoyable.

For starters, the bunk beds didn’t have ladders, which made getting on and off the top bunk a bit of a challenge every day. And if you’re traveling with a large group, you’ll be disappointed to know that there’s only one female bathroom and one shared shower room per floor.

The final straw came when we discovered that there were no pillows in the room, just pillowcases. When we asked the receptionist for pillows, we were told that they were available upon request, but we never received them during our stay.

Despite these minor hiccups, we still managed to have a good time at The Vanderbilt YMCA. The location is fantastic, and you really can’t complain about anything for its price. It’s right near the YMCA, which is a great place to work out or swim, and it’s just a short walk from some of the best shopping, dining, and entertainment in the city.

So, let’s do the math: budget-friendly accommodation, great location, clean and safe surroundings, and a few bumps along the way. All in all, I would give The Vanderbilt YMCA 4/5 stars. Just remember, you’re not exactly staying in a five-star hotel, so keep your expectations in check. And, if you’re staying in a bunk bed, make sure to pack your ladder!
