Feast of Flavors at Briju: A Restaurant Review with a Twist

Are you tired of reading the same boring restaurant reviews that just tell you about the food and service? Well, buckle up buttercup, because this review is about to add a little humor to your day!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Briju and let me tell you, it was a feast of flavors with every bite. My husband and I tried four different starters between us and, let’s just say, we were more than satisfied.

First up was the prawn crudo with marinated peaches and, drumroll please, this dish was my absolute favorite! I mean, who wouldn’t love fresh prawns mixed with juicy peaches? Yum!

Next up was the vol-au-vent, which was my husband’s favorite for the night. The flavors inside and the crispiness on the outside made it a dish worth trying. My only suggestion is that I would have preferred two small ones instead of one big one to share between two, especially since we were told by the waitress that they suggest a sharing concept.

Third on the list was the Agnolotti zalzett Malti. Another great dish, the sausage was clearly made in-house and the authenticity shone throughout the dish. Keep up the good work, Briju!

Last but not least, we tried the ravioli with seafood and it was cooked to perfection. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ravioli, right?

Now, as much as the food was great and the service even better, I do have to point out my disappointment with the drinks. My husband and I both ordered gin and tonics (different gins, of course) and the glass was too big which resulted in a lot of tonic and not enough gin. I mean, what’s the point of ordering a gin and tonic if you can barely taste the gin? We mentioned this to the waiter and he said there were two shots of gin in each glass, but maybe if they cooled it down with the tonic a bit, we could actually taste the gin.

And as for me, I ordered a glass of Barolo and, at €10 a glass, I would expect it to be chilled to its rightful temperature of around 12 degrees Celsius. Unfortunately, the wine was warm and that just ruins the whole taste of a nice Barolo. Sad face.

In conclusion, Briju is a great place for a feast of flavors and fantastic service, but just make sure to bring your own thermometer for the wine. My rating for Briju? 4/5 stars.
