Yakuza by Olivier Porto – A Disappointing Dining Experience in Portugal
I recently went on a holiday to Portugal and had the misfortune of dining at Yakuza by Olivier Porto. I wouldn’t exactly call it a gastronomic experience, more like a journey through the digestive system. To put it simply, it was bland, sugary and an experience I never want to go through again! Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant while in Porto.
We arrived at Yakuza on a fully booked evening, so we decided to book for the following day. The service was indeed impeccable, but the food left much to be desired. Unfortunately, I woke up at 3 am with a stomachache and spent the whole day with the runs. The fish was not fresh, and the temaki was warm, even though it was supposed to be raw!
The drinks were nothing but a glass full of sugar syrup, and the sugar was so overpowering that you couldnt taste the alcohol. When we mentioned it to the server, she said yes theyre sugary, next time order them with less sugar – which was not exactly helpful since we didn’t even finish a quarter of the first one.
To make matters worse, the “Japanese” food was nothing like actual Japanese cuisine. The pasta was bland, and the raw fish was warm! I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a true taste of Japanese cuisine.
In conclusion, Yakuza by Olivier Porto was a huge disappointment. If you’re in Porto and looking for a good dining experience, I would suggest you skip this one. My rating – 2/5 stars.
